Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure businesses Sector Specific Grant application phase 2 opens 10:00am 9 March 2021

A second phase of the Welsh Government ERF Sector Specific Grant for hospitality, tourism and leisure businesses and associated supply chain businesses will open from 10:00am tomorrow (9 March 2021) until 8:00pm on Friday (12 March 2021). The grant aims to support businesses employing 10 or more staff who expect to lose more than 60% of their turnover as a result of the on-going Alert Level 4 restrictions between 25 January 2021 to 31 March 2021 to meet their operating costs. Pending the outcome of the next review on 12 March 2021, the Welsh Government also confirmed last week that a further £150 million in grants could be made available to firms, including micro businesses, through the Non Domestic Rates (NDR) scheme if Coronavirus restrictions are extended.

Gwynedd residents urged to stick to Covid-19 rules

The multi-agency group which is working to protect the county’s communities from Covid-19 is urging residents to follow the regulations to stop the spread of the virus. A press release was issued last week when Gwynedd had the highest Coronavirus incidence rate in Wales over a seven day period (at 89.1 per 100,000), above the national average (50.9 per 100,000). Unlike most other Welsh counties, the number of reported Covid-19 infections are not decreasing significantly week on week. The Gwynedd Prevention and Surveillance Group is urging the public to follow the rules and keep the county’s communities safe. For the press release in full, go to:

Welsh Government launched a new campaign on 1 March 2021 to promote the important support available to businesses to help them deal with the continued pressures of coronavirus and plan for a brighter future. The ‘We’re in Your Corner’ campaign will encourage firms the length and breadth of Wales to take advantage of the skills and employment advice and guidance that is on offer through the Skills Gateway for Business online portal. Welsh Government Apprenticeship Recruitment Support

The Welsh Government has launched a £40 million skills and jobs package to help employers take on and train new workers, including apprentices and young people. Apprenticeships continue to play a vital role in delivering the skills employers and the economy need, offering the opportunity to recruit cost effectively and build a skilled workforce. The apprenticeship incentives, which will run from August 2020 to 31 July 2021, will help businesses to recruit apprentices, supporting the development of a workforce that is able to meet changing business needs.
